Koppangen has more to it than fishing during summer time. Go hiking in the mountains, or try glacier walking on one of the glaciers around Koppangen. If you know where to look, you can also find a lot of mushrooms.
Koppangen is further out of the fjord, a sleepy fishing village where a glacier-fed river cascades into the sea, making the water milky white. Walk into the valley to see tall waterfalls and lush valleys where the Lapps herd their reindeer in the winter.
Sturdy, water-resistant walking shoes are recommended. It is a good idea to carry a small pack with water, snacks and a mobile phone, and bring a light jacket and hat as weather conditions can change quickly.
Mushroom hunting!
Koppangen is a great place for mushroom picking.
If you know how to find those hidden places that is.
Berrie picking!
The Lyngen Peninsula is well known for its good growing condition for wild berries.
The closeness to the sea is a key factor.
The best time of the year to go berrie picking is late summer and autumn.
Blueberry, lingonberry (mountain berry) and not to forget cloudberry are the most common ones.
The midnight sun!
The summer in the arctic is magic with the 24-hour light.
When the sun sets and hits the horizon it`s turning, going straight up again.
With all the colors on the sky and reflexion on the Fjord, it´s a spectacular vision, well worth to see!
You can experience the midnight sun from 20th of may until 22th of july.
