Lyngen is located in the middle of a so-called ‘Northern light belt’, making it one of the best places on earth to see the Northern Lights.
"To see the Northern lights, you just have to look up", says Alf, the owner of Koppangen Brygger.
In the Lyngen alps, you are surrounded by nature, far away from the city lights. Therefore, the light pollution is very low, frequently resulting in spectacular strong Northern lights!
“As a child, I did not know the Northern lights were that special, because I saw it every day. Now that I work in tourism, I realise how special the phenomenon is.”, says Alf.
Alf sees the Northern lights almost every day. “The Northern lights can get a bit boring”, Alf jokes. Nevertheless, Alf admits that the phenomenon can still be special for him, too. Especially when they the lights are strong.
"One time, the Northern Light was really strong, moving, and in different colours, like it was about to grab you".
“One time, the light was really strong, moving, and in different colours, like it was about to grab you!”, Alf says with visible excitement on his face. TheNorthern lights are as unsure as next-days weather. Sometimes she shows up for hours, other days it is just a couple of minutes. “You never know when it is coming, it can be there for 1 minute only”.
